Paluxy Parade-Sauroposeidon and Acrocanthosaurus

Description

During low tide, 112 million years ago on a broad, carbonate flat in what would some day be Texas, a group of 13 or more Suroposeidon (or Paluxysaurus) makes its way to new feeding grounds, leaving washtub-sized prints in the limy mud. Burrows of small crabs, shrimp, and polychaetes abound, with mounds of ligh-colored mud excavated by the burrowing invertebrates forming an irregular surface on the dark, algae-covered flat. An Acrocanthosaurus falls in behind the group and is following one of the sauropods in the distance. Overhead, an ornithocheirid pterosaur begins its search for fish that are stranded in tide pools and exposed flats. Millions of years later, Roland Bird would excavate the tracks in the Glen Rose Limestone and bring this day to light for generations of people to wonder at, argue about, and reflect on our tiny, ephemeral place in the cosmos.
