Roadrunner surrogate (painted wood)

A couple of years ago, my wife, who's a wildlife rehabilitator, was tasked with raising a pair of juvenile roadrunners that had been found abandoned. To prevent them from imprinting on her and to give them an image of an adult to key in on, she asked me to make this wooden decoy with realistic colors to match the missing adult. Both roadrunners thrived and we released them into the wild a few weeks later. Now the surrogate sits on a mantle in our living room. Functional art!
